
Tjuan is a native of Greenville, South Carolina. She earned a Ph.D. in higher education administration, M.Ed. in student personnel services and B.A. in journalism from the University of South Carolina. She completed a year-long fellowship at Harvard Business School after earning her Ph.D.
She currently serves as Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs Manager with IBM in Georgia. Her work focuses on community and employee relations, corporate social responsibility and philanthropic programs. Tjuan is passionate about education and ensuring educational opportunities for all young people.
Prior to joining IBM, she served as senior program officer with The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation’s Pathways to Success initiative expanding postsecondary educational opportunities for low-income youth. She previously served as program officer with the Southern Education Foundation where her work addressed educational achievement, access and equity issues in the South. She also served as founding program director for City Year South Carolina, a community service and youth leadership development program.
Tjuan is a 2010 alumna of the Education Policy Fellowship Program through the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education and a 2008 Marshall Memorial Fellow. She has traveled throughout China and Europe studying education, economic and community conditions abroad. She is an alumna of the Hull Fellowship, Southeastern Council of Foundations; serves on the Council on Foundations’ Committee on Inclusiveness and volunteers as a mentor at the Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy. She was named the USC College of Education Alumna of the Year in 2007. Tjuan is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and attends Impact United Methodist Church.
